On the brisk Spring afternoon of Monday, March 27th, 2023, Suliasi "Lilo" Manufekau Finau passed on peacefully from mortal life surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Now reunited with his beloved wife Isapeli "Oto'ota" 'Ehau Tu'akoi Finau, and their daughter Fetu'u, both of whom preceded him in death. Lilo was born to Manufekau & Pauline Finau, on September 19th, 1940, in Petani, Niuafo'ou, Tongatapu, Tonga. He was raised in Eua and Tokomolo, Tonga. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in his youth and served a full-time mission in Tonga. Upon his return he met and married his eternal companion, Oto'ota. They were married April 20th, 1968, and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the New Zealand temple in November of 1970.
In May of 1976, Lilo emigrated to the United States and settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. With pioneer-like industry, he worked and saved his money for Oto'ota and their five children at the time to join him in the US during the winter of 1978. As their family grew, so did their faith in Jesus Christ. Lilo and Oto’ota served three missions together. Tragically, on February 14, 2009, while serving in Tonga, Oto'ota became ill and passed away. Sister Oto’ota Finau gave her last effort and breath in the service of God. She continues the Lord's work on the other side of the veil.
Lilo married Finau Mohulamu Finau in December of 2010. They resided in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he remained faithful to the Lord and fulfilled church callings. He loves to serve. Of all his Church assignments, ministering and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ were his favorites.
Lilo is survived by his beautiful family, widow Mohulamu and many posterities:
